This course provides a
comprehensive, high quality and supportive supervision training route from novice to experienced practitioner.

...As I have noted in the past, the CST Diploma course remains a feather in the cap of accredited training monitored by the ASIIP, providing a unique opportunity for supervisors from a range of backgrounds and situations to develop, deepen and extend their practice of supervision. Long may it flourish!’

The New Hybrid Diploma
2023 will see the launch of our new hybrid Diploma combining the best of online and face to face teaching.  Whilst the course has traditionally been delivered face to face at Thriplow Hall, the conversion to online teaching during lockdown has now given us the experience to create a training which combines the best of both modes.  As well as developing an effective model for training, this hybrid is also very much in keeping with the new reality in which online supervision has emerged as an equivalent option to face to face supervision.

Please note:  All face to face sessions must be attended in person.

The Diploma offers:
  • High ratio of tutors to participants.  Two to three tutors present at all sessions. Maximum course number is 14.
  • Ten weekend modules (one and two day) from January 2023 to March 2024. See details below.
  • Two guest presenter workshops by trainers renowned in the field of supervision.
  • Subscribes to the BACP Supervision Training Curriculum Diploma Level Framework.
  • A thorough foundation in the theory and practice of supervision applicable to helping professionals coming from a wide theoretical range.
  • The integration of ideas and models of supervision including those of Hawkins & Shohet and Inskipp & Proctor.
  • The integration of Adlerian concepts emphasising encouragement, a holistic approach, and an understanding of the social purpose of human interaction.
  • The development of informed, reflective and mature practice.
  • A supportive supervision structure enabling practice of supervision through working with a fellow course participant outside the core module periods, moving to working with external supervisees from April to course end.
  • A stimulating learning environment including large and small group work, tutor-led discussion and guidance, peer presentations, individual goal-setting, and peer and tutor feedback.
  • Supervised skills practice in small tutor-led groups.
  • Regular supervision of supervision in small groups.

Please note that applicants are required to have a minimum of three years' post- qualification experience in their field, i.e. coaching, counselling, dramatherapy, or other related professional occupation.
